Well we made it through the ice storm relatively unscathed. We were very fortunate. Our power was back by early Sat morning and cable was back by Sun night. Thanks to a generator we had heat Fri night so we didn't all have to curl up in front of the fireplace.
All I could think was how did our ancestors do it? Of course they were prepared for it. Wood was already cut, oil lamps were standard, meats were cured, etc. But infant mortality was high. No pack and plays to put the baby in so they can't crawl into the fire!
The kids were in good spirits until mid-day and then it all got very "boring". Here's a picture of BEFORE they were bored.
